Northern Spirit Team Named for First Round of Women’s Domestic Competition
Published on 03 Oct 2016
The Northern Spirit selectors have named their squad for their opening round of Women's Competition matches to be played against the Wellington Blaze at Karori Park, Wellington on 27, 28 and 29 November 2015.
The three contests will be former White Fern Emily Drumm's first competition matches since taking over the role of head coach this year. The Spirit side will be captained by 21 year old Brooke Halliday, and will also include international experience in the form of current Australian representative Holly Ferling. The 19 year old right arm fast-medium bowler from Queensland made her debut for the Australian Southern Stars as a 17 year old in 2013, and Drumm is expecting Ferling to add some real impact to the bowling performance of the team.
Says Drumm "Holly brings such an excitement to our side. We are rebuilding the team and to have someone of her calibre is very special. I am looking forward to having her in the side as her experience, even with her young age will be so valuable. We are looking forward to welcoming Holly to the Spirit."
