Spirit hunting down Hallyburton Johnstone Shield Grand Final spot
Published on 31 Jan 2020
The SkyCity Hamilton Northern Spirit will be looking to all-but secure a berth in the Hallyburton Johnstone Shield Grand Final when they play the Wellington Blaze in a double-header this weekend at Cobham Oval.
With only four games remaining in the round-robin phase of the competition the Spirit are sitting second.
Two wins against Wellington will mean that if any team is to leapfrog them on the table, that side must win all of their remaining games and potentially earn bonus points in some of those victories.
The Spirit will be looking forward to returning to the one-day format in which they experienced early season success, winning five of six matches.
There are several changes to the last Hallyburton Johnstone Shield squad, with Nensi Patel returning to the Spirit side for the first time this season, while Lucy Boucher, Makayla Templeton and Holly Topp could make their Hallyburton Johnstone Shield debuts.
The Wellington Blaze squad is also set for changes with a number of their players on WHITE FERNS duty.
Rounds seven and eight of the Hallyburton Johnstone Shield are being played Saturday, February 1 (10.30am) and Sunday, February 2 (10.00am), at Cobham Oval, Whangarei.
