Hamilton Boys' High School have experienced final day heartbreak at the Gillette Cup National Finals as they finished second on net run-rate to St. Andrew's College.

After winning their first four matches to sit two points clear at the top-of-the-table going in to the final day, the only team with a chance of catching Hamilton Boys' were their opponents on the last match day, St. Andrew's College.

With a two point buffer and superior net run-rate, Hamilton Boys' could still secure the Gillette Cup with a close loss, but they would've been looking to make it a tournament clean-sweep to remove any chance of missing out on the Cup.

Unfortunately for Hamilton Boys', who had played magnificent cricket up until the final day, they couldn't get the result they needed against St. Andrew's, who posted 276/8 before bowling Hamilton Boys' out for a 174-run win.

As mentioned, Hamilton Boys' have plenty to be proud of, recording four wins from their first four matches and some strong individual performances throughout the tournament, most notably 121 to Jacob Parker against Otago Boys' High School, 4-24 for Banroj Sidhu against the same opponents, while Payton Spencer also took four wickets against Lindisfarne College.
