Northern Spirit Sign White Fern and WBBL All Rounder Hayley Jensen
Published on 08 Oct 2016
The Northern Spirit are excited to have signed all-rounder Hayley Jensen to their line-up to play the remainder of the Women's Domestic Cricket season. Jensen previously played for Canterbury and notched up 13 games for the White Ferns during 2014. 23 year old Jensen joins the Spirit having completed her 2015-16 season with the WBBL Melbourne Stars.
Emily Drumm, Head Coach of the Northern Spirit says that Hayley will add a further level of depth to the squad "We are delighted to have Hayley as part of the Spirit team for the last 2 rounds (of the Women's Domestic Competition). We have steadily improved since the first round of the competition and the addition of Hayley is a real bonus for us. I am really excited for the girls to have another top player join the team."
The Northern Spirit will face the Auckland Hearts this weekend, with 2 One Day Games and a T20 match to be played at Bruce Pullman Park in Papakura. The Spirit are looking to continue to improve their form which has seen some moments of promise for the predominantly young and inexperienced side.
"We've seen some strong individual performances and produced a couple of great team efforts where it has all come together on the same day" says Anna Wilkins, Northern Spirit Manager. "We're excited about the next six matches and the chance to notch up some wins and see players in our group pushing for higher honours."
Mel Knight remains unavailable as she recovers from a broken foot sustained while playing Canterbury in Round 3.
