New CEO Announced for ND Cricket
Published on 10 Sep 2017
The Board of Northern Districts Cricket Association (NDCA) have appointed Ben MacCormack as the new CEO. He replaces Peter Roach who departed NDCA to take up the Head of Cricket Operations at Cricket Australia.
MacCormack will join the NDCA team from Australia where he is currently employed as General Manager of Commercial, Communications and Events at Cricket ACT as well as lecturing in Sports Business at the University of Canberra. His strong sports administration background includes roles with Gymnastics Victoria, the ACT Government and AFL NSW/ACT. A four year period as the CEO of AFL Europe saw strong growth in participation of the sport across Europe and several AFL recruits under his leadership.
NDCA Board Chair, Martin Bradley, says that Ben MacCormack was a stand-out candidate in a very qualified field of applicants. "Ben brings with him an understanding of high performance sport and junior participation models as well as a proven track record for securing community and commercial outcomes and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships."
"We are confident that Ben will continue the momentum we have built within our cricket programmes and we look forward to working with him this coming cricket season."
MacCormack relocates from Canberra to the Waikato and is eager to roll up his sleeves at Seddon Park. "I've heard from many people of the great work that Peter and the Northern Districts team have undertaken - Northern Districts is highly regarded internationally. I am looking forward to continuing that tradition and leading the way within the New Zealand cricket family."
"I'm eager to connect with the broader cricketing community, including the volunteers, as they are the lifeblood of sport and vital in delivering success."
He says that the new job has come at an ideal time for his family. "We were looking for opportunities in this region as my wife Amy spent much of her school life in Hamilton and her family live in the Waikato. That will certainly make the transition easier, having that support at hand -especially with 4 young children."
Ben MacCormack will begin his role with NDCA on October 16th.
