The Otago Volts have run out winners of tonight's Dream11 Super Smash match at Seddon Park by 43 runs.

Anton Devcich struck in the first over as the Knights bowled first, but brisk batting from Neil Broom and Nick Kelly got them off to a flyer at 60/1 after 5, before Anurag Verma took the first of three wickets as he had Broom caught for 32.

Daryl Mitchell had Kelly caught-behind shortly after, but Dean Foxcroft and Josh Finnie then combined and picked-up where the earlier pair left off, adding 77 for the third-wicket before Ish Sodhi broke the partnership by removing Foxcroft with the score at 170 in the 15th.

The Volts were well-placed for a big score, so it is a testament to the Knights bowling effort that they fought-back to restrict their opponents to 198/9, Mitchell starring with the ball as he took 4-32, including a stunning caught-and-bowled.

It was still a big target to chase, and the Knights found themselves in early trouble when they were 41/3 in the sixth over.

Joe Carter and Brett Hampton came together and started rebuilding the chase, picking-off the singles which were punctuated with some lusty blows.

Carter put one out of the ground, and then hit another six to reach his maiden T20 half-century, but was caught several balls later with the score at 124 at the start of the 15th - with 76 needed off 29, the Knights needed fast runs.

Hampton went searching for them, and brought-up his own half-century in the same fashion as Carter when he put one over the leg-side boundary.

The asking rate was climbing all the time however, and the Knights continued to lose wickets in search of the big runs until they were eventually dismissed for 155, 43 runs short of their target.
