Debutants in Spirit and Knights squads for trip south
Published on 28 Dec 2019
There is a new face in both the SkyCity Hamilton Northern Spirit and Knights squads for tomorrow's trip to Alexandra.
Lucy Boucher and Jake Gibson could make their respective debuts for the Northern Districts sides at Molyneux Park against the sides from Otago.
Boucher is an exciting young batter who is fresh off a sensational National Under 19 tournament for Northern Districts, where she finished as the competition's top run-scorer with 221, including the competition's first-ever century.
Gibson, cousin of Northern Districts bowler Zak Gibson, is another young player who is a highly-rated all-rounder.
His inclusion is in-keeping with similar selection decisions this season, whereby Northern Districts have rewarded players who have shown good form at 'A' level.
Both players come into sides that have otherwise settled looks about them, with both the Spirit and Knights sticking with mostly the same squads throughout the competition.
This consistency has seen the Spirit earn several early wins, while the Knights have improved every game, including a rollicking victory against the Auckland Aces last time out.
