Crunch game as first meets second at McLean Park
Published on 24 Jan 2019
McLean Park will host the biggest Burger King Super Smash match this season when the Knights travel to Napier for a battle with the Central Stags.
It is a match which pits the two front-runners of the competition against each other, with the Knights holding a six-point lead on the Central Stags.
The match looks certain to be an entertaining one, with three of the last four Super Smash innings at McLean Park yielding more than 200 runs.
This includes the Central Stags passing 200 on each occasion, meaning the Knights will need to be at their best with the ball and in the field to restrict their opposition.
The Central Stags are also the only side to have beaten the Knights this season when they emerged victorious by five wickets at Bay Oval.
All this means the Knights are well-aware of the challenge ahead of them, however they can take great confidence in their own abilities and form.
The Knights are yet to lose on the road this season and have won five in a row.
Of further interest to the Knights will be the fact that this fixture has been won by the away side in three of the last four matches.
With just three rounds to go, a win for the Knights would all but guarantee them first-place and hosting rights for the Super Smash Grand Final, providing all the motivation required ahead of tomorrow's match.
