Blackcaps Named in Northern Districts Side to Face Canterbury at Seddon Park

Published on 03 Nov 2016

The Plunket Shield match beginning Saturday against Canterbury will see the return of international players to Northern Districts.   Corey Anderson, Mitchell Santner, Ish Sodhi and Tim Southee have all been named to play in Round 3 of the first class competition following their return from India.  Other Northern Districts internationals Kane Williamson, Trent Boult, and BJ Watling are resting prior to the Pakistan tour.  Anton Devcich also returns to the side from the India tour and takes over the captaincy role from Daniel Flynn, who is currently unavailable due to a hip injury.

Devcich is looking to continue on the good work shown in the previous two rounds "We have a pretty good plan set in place and we are looking to carry on with what the guys have done in the first two rounds.  Basically we've just got to play well to beat a good Canterbury side."

Devcich's preparation is focussed on getting adjusted to New Zealand conditions again, saying "It is difficult coming back from India as the ball doesn't bounce above your knees and rarely swings or seams.  We have had a couple of days back in the nets to prepare and to get back to old habits of playing the ball late and moving late."

Making way for the returning BLACKCAPS are Joe Carter, Tony Goodin, Nick Kelly and Joe Walker.
