7 Wicket Bag for Kuggeleijn in Final Round of Plunket Shield

Northern Districts have drawn their final match of the season with eventual Plunket Shield winners Central Districts played at Mclean Park in Napier.
On day one Central Districts captain Will Young elected to bowl first. Central District's bowlers would make early in roads into the top order with Captain Daniel Flynn (7) and Henry Cooper (0) falling cheaply. When Tim Seifert (3) was dismissed by Adam Milne Northern Districts were in deep trouble at 36 for 6. A fine 7th wicket partnership between Nick Kelly (40) and Scott Kuggeleijn took the score over the hundred mark before Kelly was dismissed by Seth Rance. Northern Districts were eventually dismissed for a 134 as Kuggeleijn remained 48 not out. Seth Rance was the pick of the bowlers with 6 for 26.
In reply Central Districts were in early trouble as Scott Kuggeleijn ripped out the top order with the wickets of George Worker (0), Grey Hay (1) and Will Young (0). After Bracewell was dismissed with the score 6 for 26 Tom Bruce (32) and Seth Rance (33) took CD in reach of Northern Districts first innings score. They were eventually dismissed for 99 when Kuggeleijn dismissed Ajaz Patel. Scott Kuggeleijn was the pick of the bowlers with a career best 7 for 48.
Northern Districts would amass 483 in their second innings and giving them a significant advantage. All top six batsman contributed in particular Anton Devicich who went on to register his fifth first class century as he blasted 106 off just 76 balls while Daryl Mitchell (104*) registered his sixth first class century. There were other good contributions from opener Henry Cooper (52) Tim Seifert (52) and Scott Kuggeleijn (35). Ajaz Patel was the pick of the bowlers with 6 for 143 while Adam Milne claimed three wickets.
Central Districts were left with a daunting target of 519 for victory. Veteran seamer Brent Arnel dismissed the top four batsman with the wickets of George Worker (42), Grey Hay (29), Ben Smith (1) and Tom Bruce (40). Will Young (75) and Dane Cleaver (87) stood firm for Central Districts and ensured the match ended in a draw. Central Districts finished the match on 284 for 4. Brent Arnel was the pick of the bowlers with 4 for 35 off 25 overs.
Northern Districts finished the Plunket Shield season in fourth place on the competition table with 80 points.
