Northern Districts looking to turn it on in Whangarei
Published on 04 Feb 2020
Northern Districts have made the journey from one end of the country to the other for tomorrow's Ford Trophy match against the Auckland Aces.
After a trip to Otago where they experienced a frustrating match abandonment on Sunday, Northern Districts now head to Whangarei's Cobham Oval, where they will be hoping sunnier conditions greet them.
Tomorrow's round nine match sees both sides at opposite end of the table, chasing victories for very different reasons.
Top-of-the-table Auckland are looking for a victory which will secure first-place in The Ford Trophy round-robin and Grand Final hosting rights.
Meanwhile, the hosts find themselves fifth in the table, albeit only two points off an Elimination Final spot in third.
Should ND lose, they will need Wellington and Otago to also experience defeat if they are to take their finals hunt to the last round.
If they win, it sets-up an incredibly exciting final round of fixtures on Sunday.
Round nine of The Ford Trophy begins Wednesday, February 5, 11.00am at Cobham Oval, Whangarei.
